21 Jan Disneyland’s “Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge” Park Will Be Revealed As Marvel Comic
Disneyland’s Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge will launch this Summer in California, and Disney World will open an identical park in Orlando later in the year. The new theme parks will be The House of the Mouse’s first Star Wars based section which encompasses 14 acres per park. The park will recreate the Black Spire Outpost, a spaceport on Batuu. According to The Hollywood Reporter, a Marvel Entertainment comic book based on Galaxy’s Edge will be released prior to the park opening. Disney and Marvel will introduce the audience to the outpost through a mini-series that acts as a guide and precursor to entering the park.
The five issue mini-series will be the first time Batuu will be explored. The mini-series will be written by Ethan Sacks, and illustrated by Will Sliney. Sliney worked on Marvel’s Solo: A Star Wars Story comic. The covers for the comics will be illustrated by Walt Disney Imagineering and Lucasfilm concept artists instead of the story artist, which is unorthodox. Speaking withStarWars.com, Sacks teased, “Our series will give fans the chance to visit Black Spire Outpost months ahead of voyaging to Batuu in person. Armed with top-secret sketches and information from Walt Disney Imagineering and Lucasfilm, we are keeping this authentic to the spirit of this rich new setting. I’d tell you more, but I already have the death sentence on 12 systems…”
