(New Exclusive Interview) Hip Hop Group The Famm Talks Music With Imperial Hustle
1. How did you guys come up with the name “The Famm” and what does your name mean?
We originally started with 5 of us. Johnny had a studio in his parents basement and we all knew Johnny but none of knew each other. We always ended up at Johnny’s together tho bc we all rapped and had tracks wit Johnny. After awhile we all started meeting up together and doing tracks together and decided to become a group. The FAMM comes from an acronym we made F.orever A.bout M.aking M.usic….. and we all felt like a family….. so it just made sense to us.
2. What part do you guys feel you play within the music industry and to Colorado Springs?
In the music industry we are still unkowns. We still have a long way to go in that regard. However we just try to focus on being creative and having fun…. now a days you can connect directly to the fans and I think that’s a great thing for people like us. And we have a good buzz in Colorado Springs that’s where we started. However we’ve lived in Denver now for almost 10 years and have been doing really well here as well. Colorado is a great place to be around creative people.
3. You guys just dropped the video for “I Got A Feeling.” What the concept behind that video and whats the concept behind the record?
Well we had a friend of ours DeAngelo Nedio on it who absolutely smashed the hook and the song is just about having a great night. You just get a good feeling and you know it’s going down tonight. The video concept was helped drawn up by Mic Coats, who produced the song. He’s the one who suggested we dressed up as old people and got that all set up for us. The reason we did that was to kind of play off the fact that we’re a little older. I’m (Trav) 34 and Johnny is 35. But it was also to sort of show that at any age you can just have fun and let loose and just hang wit the homies and do whatever you do.
4. How has your environment effected the type of music that you guys create?
Denver is a very creative place and I think it’s stretched us to do very different sounding music then we would normally have done. So it’s been huge in our artistic growth.
5. Talk about “Show’M” and what you guys feel it brings different to the marketplace?
Well I think everybody can relate to “Show’M” it’s that feeling of being doubted and the realization that I’m not gonna give up. We’re gonna work our asses off and we gon Show em! That’s it.
6. Where do you guys see your brand and career in the next 5 years?
I see in the next 5 years we will be touring nation wide and internationally. And as for our brand I’m hoping to be apart of something that really connects with the younth and helps kids that don’t have the best support system in their life and need some extra guidance. Our brand is all about keeping people together.
