Toronto (via Huntsville, Ontario) folk-pop singer, songwriter releases new
MuchFACT video for her latest single “Figure It Out”
And… featured in the new video, Payne created a fictitious app called
‘Cuddler’ (a way to meet up with people for a hug or cuddle), and
coincidently, something exactly like it was just released as an actual app!
Toronto, ON, October 21, 2014 – Toronto folk-pop singer, songwriter Jaime
Payne releases a brand new video for her latest single called “Figure It
Out” – official video release date: October 21, 2014.
Upon the release of her new MuchFACT video (#3 on the Fresh Five Countdown
on The Verge/ SiriusXM 173, October 11, 2014), Payne says, “I play music to
share my own stories. I want to sing songs that say something important, not
just popular. Something that resonates. Music that you feel to; a song that
makes you think.”

Of her new single (official release date: September 30, 2014) and new
MuchFACT video, Payne states, “The video is a commentary on current social
mores around dating, relationships and the unreasonable lengths that young
women go to in order to meet unrealistic appearance and behavioural
expectations. I needed it to NOT have a happy ending. I also switched the
gender roles and used the toy bear as the male character. Despite desperate
changes we make, the outcome is often predictable; we cannot change for
others and always expect a happy ending. I stand by my video ending. It is
the whole point of the song.”
“Figure It Out” (now available via iTunes) was recorded and produced in
Toronto by Dane Hartsell (21 Music/Universal Music Canada). On the
recording, Dane Hartsell played bass, keys, lead guitar, Jaime Payne played
rhythm guitar and Mike Langford played drums. The video was produced by
Tyler Knight of KnightVision (Orillia, Ontario).
Payne, who created and also directed her new video, explains, “I shot a mock
video as a live storyboard for my videographer, so I could properly
articulate my vision. I created a fictitious app called ‘Cuddler’ (a feature
in the video), which provides a way to meet up with people for a hug or
cuddle, and as it turns out, something exactly like it was just released as
an actual app! Total coincidence!” http://cuddlrapp.com.
Recent extensive touring includes gigs with such renowned artists as Andy
White, Stephen Fearing, Hawksley Workman, Craig Cardiff and Matthew Barber;
in venues like the Hidden Valley Resort, Supermarket and Free Times Café,
and at festivals such as Windsong Music Festival and Andy McLean’s inaugural
Muskoka Sound Music Festival, September, 2014.

Jaime Payne (pronounced J’aime) began to perform under the name “J’aime” in
2010. She states, “Lyrically, I invite audiences into my life at an intimate
level, and this is when I began opening myself up to be musically vulnerable
and honest.”
In February 2011, Payne released her debut full-length album titled
‘J’aime’, followed by a VIA Rail cross-Canada tour and performances
throughout Europe. By September 2011, Payne moved to Peterborough, Ontario
to pursue a neuropsychology degree, but soon found herself with a new
resolve to make music her full-time career.
Payne released her second independent album ‘Mark ‘n my words’ on January
25, 2013; she dropped the apostrophe in her first name “J’aime” (she says it
confused people) and completed a three-month southern Ontario tour before
moving to Toronto.
