Seattle area native Q Dot (Quincy Henry) who is a Grammy nominated MC/Pianist released a new EP “Black Gold” this week that landed at #17 on the iTunes Hip Hop chart on Monday 3.2.15.
With no commercial radio play or video play on national networks, Henry, a Full Sail University graduate student and independent artist credits a strategy focused on social media and touring for the recent success. The self-produced, self-released Black Gold was released February 24th 2015.
Q Dot is currently in the middle of a self-booked 20 city US tour and with a total audience of less than 10,000 on social media, music analytics websitenextbigsound.com shows Q Dot is seeing 32 times the amount of social media activity of someone with his audience size.
